7th graders

Members of Mrs. Meservey’s 7th Grade Ag Exploratory class toured Troy Jennings Feed Lot, located south of Jamesport along Highway 190, on Friday, September 11th.

The students are currently participating in a Classroom to Careers unit designed to connect what they learn in the classroom with real world careers in agriculture. Each week, students spend Monday through Thursday learning about a specific area of the agriculture industry before wrapping up the week with a Friday visit to a local business or operation where they can see that industry firsthand.

The visit to Troy Jennings FeedLot gave students the opportunity to see a local cattle operation in action and learn more about the work, skills, and careers involved in the beef industry.

Several more tours are planned throughout the Jamesport area this fall. We are excited to get our students out of the classroom, into our community, and learn about the many careers in agriculture that can be found right here in our own backyard!
