October is recognized as Fire Safety Month, and Tri-County R-7 Elementary students celebrated by taking their annual trip to the Jamesport Fire and Rescue Department. During the visit, students learned important lessons about fire safety and emergency preparedness.

Firefighters explained how emergency workers are notified when there is a fire or other emergency and demonstrated the special gear a fireman wears to stay safe while fighting fires. Students also learned how to safely exit a building in case of an emergency.

One of the highlights of the trip was getting to climb inside a real fire truck and explore the inside of an ambulance. Each student went home with a bag of fun learning activities about fire safety and their very own fireman’s hat.

The visit was both educational and exciting, helping students understand the vital role emergency workers play in keeping our communities safe.
