Tri-County Middle School Monthly Assembly

Tri-County Middle School students will be learning about Sean Covey’s The 7 Habits of Happy Kids. These habits include; Habit 1: Be Proactive - You’re in Charge, Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind - Have a Plan, Habit 3: Put First Things First - Work First, Then Play, Habit 4: Think Win-WIn - Everyone Can Win, Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood - Listen Before You Talk, Habit 6: Synergize - Together is Better and Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw - Balance Feels Best.  Each month, middle schoolers will participate in a monthly assembly and will learn one of the habits and engage in discussions and activities to bring the habit to life. Community members will be invited to participate and discuss the habit and how they use the habit in their daily lives.

This month, Tri-County Middle School will be focusing on Habit 1 - Be Proactive. It teaches students to be in charge of their own lives, to take responsibility. Characteristics of someone who practices Being Proactive include 1. Be responsible, 2. Take initiative, 3. Have a good attitude, 4. Make good choices and 5. Do the right thing without being asked. While students are encouraged to use these characteristics at school, please reinforce them at home as well.

The first Middle School Assembly was held on Friday, September 5, 2025. Sheriff Adams and Chief Deputy Parker from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department spoke to the Tri-County Middle Schoolers about how they use Habit I; Be Proactive in their everyday life and careers. Sheriff Adam emphasized to the students the importance of being responsible and making good choices. He discussed being prepared and having a good attitude.

Tri-County Middle School teachers will be on the look out for students practicing Habit 1 during the month of September. These students will be recognized at the assembly in October.
